All Because Of Another 5

God allows people to come into our lives and leave our lives.  Some people come into your life and you are fulfilled and made better for them.  Still others come into your life and it can be a disaster.  I know there are people in my past that are better left there.  There are other people that I would love to have come back into my life.

I don’t like it when I am in the presence of people that want to verbally tear a person down.  I mean, this is so sad.  If the person doing the bashing really listened to themselves they would be embarrassed and would stop.

Everyone has an opinion.  We have various opinions of others.  We must be careful not to form an opinion too quickly.  The Apostle Paul and his friend Barnabas parted company.  Why?  All because of another.  Look at Acts 15:39, “And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;”  These two men of God had differing opinions about John Mark and it caused them to separate.  Thankfully it was only for a time and then Paul declared that John Mark was “profitable” to him.  This division came about “All Because Of Another”.  We have to be careful who we associate with because they can bring us down and not build us up spiritually.

How To Hear From The Father 4

John 10:27, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:”  When it comes to listening for the voice of our Father I sometimes rely upon others to help me discern the message.  Godly counselors are vital.  We have to be careful who we choose as friends because they can pull us away from the LORD.  We have enough outside influences to do that and we don’t need another one.

In the case of the Apostle Paul, he needed someone to come along side of him.  God sent Aquilla and Priscilla.  Look at Acts 18:26, “And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.”  Sometimes we need someone to come along side of us and just explain things a little more clearly.  I know that I have three Pastor friends that I call upon regularly when I have a question.  One day I hope to be the one getting the phone calls.  Until then I will keep pressing on and trying to listen intently to my Father and discern what He is telling me.  There is one named The Holy Spirit and He is an awesome counselor.

The Iron Did Swim

Here in Indiana we have had so much rain in the past three days that it is historic.  There have not been floods like this in ten years.  Sometimes life is like these historic rains.  It seems we are plodding along pretty good and crash, flash and floods.

What do you do when life falls in on you?  Look at II Kings 6:5-6, “But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed.  And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim.”  This man’s reaction is what we should do also.  His first reaction was to reach out to God’s man.  So many of us withdraw from the people that can help us.  I am guilty of this at times and I don’t like it.

We get motivated by embarrassment, pride and many other things.  This keeps us from getting help.  We need to run to the LORD, His Word and His man for help.  Don’t try to be an island unto yourself because you might end up like on of the pictures we have seen on the news lately.  You could end up surrounded by water with no place to turn; but, up.  There is a thought…
