A Commanded To See

I enjoy reading the book of Jeremiah.  I came across the verse quoted yesterday and found there was a lot there so I decided to break it up and spread it out over a few days.  Yesterday we saw that we are “Commanded To Stand”.

Today we are going to look at the next command of this verse. Look at Jeremiah 6;16, “Jeremiah 6:16, “Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.”

We are commanded to see.  If you are like me you can look at something and not see it.  We don’t perceive it.  this is not good.  It is like eating a meal with someone and they have a crumb or something on them and you or I don’t say anything.  We see it; but, we will not do anything about it.   We see it; but, we are not motivated to do something about it.
This is the problem with too many Christians today.  We will sit comfortable in our padded Church pews while the world goes to Hell and we do nothing about it.  God is exhorting Jeremiah and the nation of Israel to open their eyes and see.We as God’s children need to open our eyes and see.  We need to see as God sees.  That is the problem. we let our sight be skewed by a host of things.  We do not see men and women as God does, lost and on their way to eternity in hell.  Jesus taught more about hell than He did heaven so why do we not attempt to warn people about it?  We have lost our vision.  We have given up the mission.  We have set aside compassion.  In other words we are no longer living like Christ.  God help us!So, how are you doing?

A Gift From God 11

The other day I received a text from my cousin.  He is having his house remodeled and needed to get some things moved.  He knows that I take things to the mission each month as people give them to me.

This time the things had to me removed because the men doing the work inside the house needed to start demolition in the room.  So, I was hurried along on my picking up and deliver this time.

When I arrived the mission I was greeted by a man twice my size and we began to shake hands he pulled me to him and said, “Give me a hug my brother!”  I could have cried.  God knows when to send these men into my life.  I needed that hug like another breath of fresh air.

The men were so excited to get three televisions, a nice pair of tennis shoes, 2 DVD player/VCR combinations and a big chair.  These items will be put into hoses that families will transition into from the family shelter before going back into the world.  The men were like kids unloading the pick up truck.  I forgot to mention that my cousin loaded the truck for me too.  It is his truck that I drove over there.

You see, God used my cousin to be a real blessing to people that need blessings.  These blessings are a gift from God.  They will probably never see the man that sent these things over to them; but, they will be forever impacted by his acts of kindness.  Let’s take a look at James 1:17, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”  God can use anyone that is willing to be “A Gift From God” if you will just allow Him.

So, how are you doing?

Our Mission

We are bombarded daily with news stories of war.  Yet, they never seem to come out and remind us that we Christians are in a serious battle.  This battle is for the souls of men, women, boys and girls.

Right now my friend and Missionary Jim Kilgore is on foreign soil seeking to win the unsaved and train the saved to win others.  There is our mission.  Yes, there are times when we need to charge the gates of hell so to speak.  The thing to remember is that we need only do this when instructed by our Supreme Commander Jesus Christ.

Look at Matthew 28:19-20, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

We often refer to this passage of Scripture as “The Great Commission” and rightfully so.  The sad thing is that it has become the greatest omission of the Church today.  We do this and that program; but, we do not try to win the lost.  These are souls that Jesus died for.

So, how are you doing?
