That Made Me Laugh

One of my favorite hymns is a song titled “The Love Of God”.  It was written by Frederick Lehman.  The song was inspired by a Jewish poem, “Hadamut” that was written in the year 1096 by Rabbi Mayer.

This struck me funny in two ways.  First because the year 1096 is the same as the code we used on the police department radio for a mental subject.  Secondly, Lehman says the following of his beloved song, “… Since the lines (3rd stanza from the Jewish poem) had been found penciled on the wall of a patient’s room in an insane asylum after he had been carried to his grave, the general opinion was that this inmate had written the epic in moments of sanity.” (This quote was taken from the book 101 More Hymn Stores by Kenneth W. Osbeck.)  Now you see why I chuckled.

Never the less, have you come face to face with the love of God?  We all have; but, the difference is in how we responded to His love.  Many reject; but, some receive.  You might think that Jesus could never love you.  Look at what He told Jeremiah in Jeremiah 31:3, “The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”  He is drawing you.  Will you go to Him and be saved?

So, how are you doing?
