Sin

II Samuel 11:4, “And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned unto her house.”

The Word of God does not give us all the little details of the account of David’s sin with Bathsheba and I think I am glad.  Moral failure is rampant in our world today.  We call it everything; but, what God calls it.  Sin.

King David had a big moral failure in our Scripture for today.  He stayed home from the battle which was not the norm.  He saw the woman bathing.  Then to go further down the slippery slope he sent for her.  What woman in that time would not be flattered and honored to be called by the king of her nation.  Really.  The Word of God records no resistance from the woman Bathsheba.  Then David sinned with the woman.

As a result; the fruit of this ungodly relationship, the child, died.  Not to mention the murder of Uriah the Hittite.  Yet you and I are no better if we are still living under the penalty of sin as passed down from Adam our father.  If we trust Christ as our Saviour we can be free from this burden of sin through the power in the blood of Jesus Christ.

So, how are you doing?
