The Hand of the LORD

The other night I had the pleasure of hearing a fantastic sermon on “The Arm of the LORD”.  It got me to thinking.  At the end of that arm is a hand.  From there I began to run many thoughts through my mind about these hands.

The hand of the LORD will save.  Look at Acts 11:21, “And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.”  This is deliverance.  Jesus in His finished work on the cross delivered all who will believe from sin.

The hand of the LORD was scarred.  Look at Psalm 22:16, “For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.”  There is only one man-made thing in Heaven and that is the nail prints in His hands and feet.  Think about that for a moment.

The hand of the LORD is serving.  Look at John 13:5, “After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.”  Jesus stooped down and washed the nasty feet of all the disciples, even Judas who would betray Him.

The hand of the LORD is stretched out.  Look at  Psalm 136:12, “With a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm: for his mercy endureth for ever.”  I think you can ask the Apostle Peter about this one during a sea walking incident.  Maybe you know personally about His stretched out hand.

II Peter 3:9, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

There are many other adjectives that will describe the hands of the LORD like strong, stable, special and the list could go on and on.  The main thing is that you know Christ as your Saviour.  If you do not, please trust Him today.

So, how are you doing?
