Farming 7

When I was growing up I wanted to be a farmer.  I thought this is what I would be.  Life soon changed my mind on that one.  In school I began to pursue business.  This was a huge flop too.  In the third grade I preached my first sermon in Miss Allen’s class.  It was horrible from what I can remember.  Thank God for His grace!

I believe it was D. L. Moody that had a young man in his office once and they looked out the window down to the street.  Moody asked this young man what he saw.  The young man described the scene to Moody.  Mr. Moody told this young man that when he looked down there he saw souls.  D. L. Moody had vision from God along with passion.

Far too man of God’s people lack this vision and passion.  People are dying and going to hell on a daily basis as we sit by in our comfortable houses, driving our comfortable cars and eating our comfortable food.  Christian, what are you going to do about it?  I pose this question to me as well as each of you.  What am I truly doing to point men, women, boys and girls to Jesus Christ for salvation?  Truthfully?

Look at what Jesus said in Luke 10:2, “Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.”  It is time to get out of the house and get into the harvest.  Jesus is counting on you.

So, how are you doing?

Muster Up The Paddock 1

Taking a quick inventory of my blog, I noticed that I did not explain myself a couple days ago.  So, here we go.

In talking with the Missionary from Australia I learned something.  I learned he used to be a Ringer and would often have to muster up the paddock.  This is what caused me to think that the Preacher said something about mustard on a paddy.  I was deeply confused.

When I shared my inability to hear and understand the Missionary filled in the blanks for me.  A Ringer is a cowboy.  The paddock is the pasture land that the animals graze on.  To muster up is to go all the way to the back and sides of this property and make sure that there are no “deserters” in the evening roundup (that is my interpretation).

I have to say that it does remind me of the Scripture passage that the Preacher used this week.  Look at Matthew 28:19-20, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

Mustard?

This past week, September 15th through the 18th my wife and I had the awesome privilege of being a part of a Bible conference.  We were asked to handle the congregational music.  No problem.  Right…  Apart from my little mistakes it went very well.

In the conference were missionaries to different parts of the world.  I cannot mention their names or mission fields here because their lives could be in jeopardy.

The keynote Preacher told us about a ringer who was told to go muster the paddock.  The only problem was that I heard something about mustard and a patty.  This caused me to think about mustard on a cow patty.  When I verified the information with the Preacher he had a hearty laugh.  I was glad to lighten his evening.  It was funny, even I have to admit.

Just remember the words of Matthew 28:19-20, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
