Everyone Needs 3 Homes

I wish someone could tell me what it is about home.  I mean really.  The other day I was gone all day doing important ministry tasks.  When I got home the first thing I did was eat.  The second thing I did was sit down in my chair and put my feet up.  I thought to myself, “Home”.

According to Dr. Adrian Rogers there are three homes that a person should be concerned with.  Let’s take a look at them.

I. A Family Home – Genesis 2:23-24, “And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.  Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”

How is your family?  You say it is fine; but, what would God say about your family.  We need fathers who will lead their homes as a servant leader and not a tyrant.  We need mothers who will be submissive to God and their husbands.  I know this is a word that is unpopular; but, it is the truth.  We need children that are trained in the ways of our Holy God to love Him.

II. A Church Home – Hebrews 10:24-25, “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:  Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”

The Church is our support group so to speak.  It is a hospital for the spiritually wounded.  It is a birthing center for new Christians.  It is a spiritual buffet for those who hunger and thirst for righteousness.

III.  A Heavenly Home – John 14:2-3, “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

There is only one way to be heir to a Heavenly home.  You and I must know Jesus Christ as our Saviour.  We must realize that we have sinned against God and we must confess our sin to Him calling upon Him in prayer.  If we are sorry for our sin and not just sorry we got caught we can be saved.  We just turn from our sin to trust Jesus Christ as our Saviour.  The Bible tells us in Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”  It is simple; but, you must do it for yourself.

So, how are you doing?

A Gift From God 3

I am sure that while people watched the Super Bowl the other evening there was at least one banner containing John 3:16.  There usually is at major sporting events.  I am thankful for someone who would do this.  They are doing what they can to get the message out.

I cannot think of any greater gift that God the Father could have given to fallen man.  We have a problem.  It is a sin problem.  No matter how good we think we are.  No matter how intellectual we think we are.  No matter what, we cannot ensure that we will spend eternity based upon any thing we can do ourselves.

The words of John 3:16 are some of the most quoted words of all Scripture.  They rank up there with Psalm 23 and “judge not that you be not judged”.

Look at John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”  You want to talk about “A Gift From God”.  There it is.  There is the greatest Gift ever given in all of time and eternity.  Jesus humbled Himself and became a man; in flesh, and lived so that you and I can live for eternity with Him.  All we must do is be sorry for our sin and ask Him for forgiveness.  It is so simple that people cannot “get it”.  If you trust Him today then Heaven will be your eternal home.

Yes, I Know

Recently our son has been fixated on one of the Gaither Homecoming DVD’s titled, “Feeling At Home”.  He loves the song, “Yes, I Know”.  So do we.  I remember singing this song with another couple we used to go to Church with a few years ago.  He played a 12 string guitar and made it beautiful.  It nearly brings tears to my eyes thinking about that again.  Here is a link to a you tube video of the song. (video).

For a long time I have laughed at one part of the video where someone lets out a big shout in the video.  As we were watching this video the other day when this part of the video came on again for the I don’t know how many-ith time I just started to cry.  It finally dawned on me that this was possibly not just a “show” with this big shout.  Maybe; just maybe, it was someone that really got the meaning of what they were singing.

I have to admit when I came to this conclusion I shouted pretty big too.  I am glad that nobody was here but me and our son.  Really, I don’t think it would have mattered.  Think about this, I John 5:13, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”  Yes, I know!  Praise the LORD!  How about you my friend and reader?  Do you know?  Have you believed by faith in the Son of God for eternal salvation?  Trust Him today and be saved.
