I have to admit that I am not a fan of so-called “Praise and Worship music”. I call them seven eleven songs. They take seven words and sing them eleven times and then you have a modern worship song. No! What you have here is some kind of tribal beat that will motivate the wrong part of you body to do what you really don’t want to do. Then someone calls this worship and praise.
I really think that praise comes from knowing God personally. If I know Him then I will be drawn to praise Him for so much. His love. His justice. His righteousness. The list is endless.
Look at Psalm 7:17, “I will praise the LORD according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the LORD most high.” I know you have something to praise the LORD for so let it go and praise Him.
So, how are you doing?
Well, I just arrived home from a dear friend’s house. His father passed away about 7:30pm yesterday. Anyone who knows Albert Ray Senior has been blessed. He was a veteran. Thank you for your service Brother Ray! He is a wonderful husband. He is a wonderful Daddy. He is a wonderful Christian.
I know that I will miss him deeply. His family will miss him even more. Every time I walked in the door he would have a gracious smile and a warm handshake. When his health began to fail my family and I purchased an electric throw for him to use as he sat in his chair. He warmed our hearts for many years and we wanted to warm him in return.
Yes, the tears of sadness and pain stream down our cheeks; especially Albert’s family. We all have the calm assurance that Albert Ray is home with Jesus this evening. He longed to see his dear wife Helen and many others who have gone on before him. He most importantly wanted to see Jesus who loved him and gave Himself for Albert.
As I sit here and weep for my loss of a dear, sweet friend I must say, “Praise God! Praise God! Praise God!” If you knew Albert then you know how often he said that and meant it.
Thank you Brother Albert Ray for your love and your outstanding Christian testimony. It will not be long and we will all have the reunion we are looking for .
See you at the House my Brother!
After you follow all the other steps to “Bring Back The Glory” it will lead you to an obvious conclusion. Worship. One man described worship as ascribing worth to someone or some thing. So when we worship God we are telling Him and everyone else that He has worth to us. I don’t like putting it that way because it sounds like I am degrading God; but, rest assured that is not my intent.
I am not talking about this out of control spiritual garbage that some call “worship” today. That is exactly what it is. I am talking about true worship that comes from a pure heart and pure motives. I am talking about reading the Word of God and seeing some truth about God and being thankful for that attribute. This only begins to scratch the surface of worship.
Look at II Chronicles 5:11-12, “And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place: (for all the priests that were present were sanctified, and did not then wait by course: Also the Levites which were the singers, all of them of Asaph, of Heman, of Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, being arrayed in white linen, having cymbals and psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them an hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets:)” These people were unified an they came together for one purpose here and that was worship. The singers, the instruments and all. What a worship service that must have been.
Do you even take the time to worship God? Maybe you should take time. I know that God would love to meet with you. He has given us His love letter called the Bible. If He loves us that much I imagine He would like to meet with us and receive our worship.
So, how are you doing?
