Last night my family and I went to Calvary Baptist Church for services. It was a wonderful evening. Pastor Randy Glenn had my wife sing several songs and I was privileged to lead the congregational singing. What an awesome night!
Pastor Glenn mentioned in his message Psalm 23:1. I love this Psalm. I truly loved his focus. We do not want because the LORD is my shepherd. Amen! Psalm 23:1, “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
This verse goes right with my thoughts these past few days. You could mix Psalm 23 and our text in II Samuel 9 and say, “All because of another I shall not want.” Our God is also our provider. Look at II Samuel 9:7, “And David said unto him, Fear not: for I will surely shew thee kindness for Jonathan thy father’s sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually.”
Mephibosheth could not provide for himself. He relied on others. In salvation we cannot provide it for ourselves. It took the sinless sacrifice of Jesus to pay for our sin and satisfy God’s holiness. “The LORD is my shepherd. I shall not want.”
So, how are you doing?
