I Know A Man Who Can 2

I shared yesterday how I really enjoy the song “I Know A Man Who Can” by Greater Vision.  Chris Alman does a slam dunk job singing the song.  You can see a video of the song here.  Let’s continue on with our thought.

“I Know A Man Who Can” – hide the battered.

I have really enjoyed reading through my Bible this year.  Moses really jumped off the page to me.  As I was thinking about our thought for today I again thought of Moses.  Look at how many times the children of Israel were a thorn in his flesh.  They wanted to stone him.  They wanted to go back to Egyptian bondage.  They were a leader’s great nightmare, truthfully.

Moses had a heart for God and His people.  In Exodus 32:32 Moses tells God if He will not forgive these people then to blot his name (Moses’) out of His (God’s book).  Wow!

Moses had one thing that he deeply desired.  He wanted to see God.  Because no man can see God face to face and live, Moses was allowed to be placed by God into the “clift of the rock” and God passed by him.  This would allow Moses to see God’s backside.  Look at Exodus 33:22, “And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:”

Friend, God has a place that He can put you when life caves in on you.  He has placed you in His hand and the Father’s hand (John 10:28-29).  So, when you are battered by life just run to the LORD and let Him hid you in the clift of the Rock.  This Rock is Jesus.

So, how are you doing?

The Cover Up 2

As I was reading over yesterday’s post on “The Cover Up” something came back to my memory from my daily Bible reading from the recent past.  I was thinking about Moses.  We all know how God used him to deliver the children of Israel from Egypt.  What an awesome task he was called upon to do.

I believe he was so zealous about this that it led him to commit murder.  Look with me at Exodus 2:12-14, “And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.   And when he went out the second day, behold, two men of the Hebrews strove together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellow?   And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known.”

Murder is serious.  Notice that Moses “looked this way and that way,”.  He knew what he was doing.  He was making sure that nobody saw him.  He forgot one thing.  God saw him.

So many times you and I go about life and we try to live like God does not see us.  Maybe we try to justify what we do by saying that God cannot see us.  Maybe we don’t believe that He cares enough about us to be looking into what we are doing.

If we are His child then He cares and He looks into our lives.  He is looking for us to bring Him glory and honor.  He is looking for us to be like Jesus no matter what the situation.  That is the key.  The Father wants us to be like the Son.  The question is do we care enough that we try to be like Jesus?  Maybe we are just living to fulfill our own lusts.  God help us!

So, how are you doing?

Go Hide

Elijah had the distinct pleasure of delivering news to king Ahab that was less than pleasant.  His news was that God was going to shut up the heavens and there would be no rain.  He said that there would not even be any dew.  It was going to become very dry.  One man said that in Texas where he lived it got so dry last year that he caught a catfish that had a tic on it.  Seriously, God was preparing to judge by the drought.

Sometimes in life we receive news that we do not want to hear.  It could be the death of a loved one.  It could be your mate walks out the door never to return.  It could be financial devastation.  I don’t know what your “drought” will be or is; but, one thing I know is that God has orchestrated it to cause you to turn to Him and to grow spiritually.

God even provided a safe haven for Elijah to hide from the king who now wanted to kill him.  Look at I Kings 17:3, “Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.”  Now, we do not have to run from our problems because Jesus is there with us through them.  Did you get that?  Jesus walks with us if we will allow Him to walk along.  Here God gives Elijah instructions where to go for safety.  Check out God’s Word for yourself and see where your hiding place might be found.  There is one provided.  Run to our Strong Tower, our Shield, our Saviour, our Sustainer.  Run to the LORD and hide in Him and you will be safe.

So, how are you doing?
