Some Thoughts On Revival

As I was reading my Bible the other day I came across II Chronicles 34:2, “And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the ways of David his father, and declined neither to the right hand, nor to the left.”  it is my opinion that if we are going to experience true revival here in America we are going to have to get back to some things.

I. Go back – In our verse we are told of Josiah, “And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD,”.  We are going to have to go back to old fashioned obedience.  If we know it is right and godly then we need to do it.  We need to go back to prayer.  We have left off prayer for programs.  We have left off prayer for personality.  We have left off prayer for play time.  This list could go on ad-nausea.

The problem is that we have become comfortable with out pet sins and we just plainly do not want to give them up.  We must “Go Back” if we are going to experience revival.

II. Get back – Our verse tells us, “and walked in the ways of David his father,”.  We have walked away from our God.  We are nowhere near Him today.  It is obvious by the sad state of the Church that we are not near Him.  Nearness is likeness.  Jesus is nothing like His Church today.  God help us to be like Jesus!

When the lost son of the book of Luke came back he “came to himself”.  Then he got up and started back home.  He did not call his father to come to skid row or jail and get him.  He got up and got back.  As he went he began to rehearse what he would say.  Then as he was coming down the last stretch of dusty road his father came running to him.  By the way it was considered shameful for a Jewish man to run in those days.  He chucked that off and ran to his son who had returned.

III. Grab on – “and declined neither to the right hand, nor to the left.”  The Church today is as a whole letting go of many things that re important.  I mean you can indulge in social ills today and they are no longer frowned upon by anyone let alone the Pastor.  I mean, they seem to be getting into the wallow with the pigs to supposedly “entice them out”.  This could not be further from the truth.  They are feeding their flesh by being involved in these worldly, fleshly activities.

It is no wonder that the Church is losing it’s power.  We are so burdened with sin and filth.  We need to get clean and want to stay clean.  How about you my  reader?  Will you have revival and meet God’s requirements?

So, how are you doing?
