Consider Him 10

Well, we have come to the end of this series on “Consider Him”.  I hope that this series has cause you to take a deeper look into Jesus Christ.  Most of all I hope that if you do not know Him as your Saviour that you will receive Him today before it is eternally too late.

Today, I want to “Consider Him in His Coming Again”.  It is a sad reality; but, God’s chosen people have missed His first coming.  They still look for Messiah to come the first time.  Yet, we who are born-again are looking for Him to come back the second time.  This time He will come back to receive His children out of this world and take them to Heaven where He has a home prepared for us.

Look at John 14:3, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”  You can take this promise to the bank so to speak.  He has promised that He will come again.  This day will take so many by surprise.  They will be unprepared for His coming again.

One day there will be a mass exodus and the lost world will wonder where we have gone.  I am looking forward to His coming again.  I pray that it is soon.

Are you looking forward to Jesus coming again?  Maybe, you are one of those who believe that it is just some fable that we hang on to.  Well, it is the truth and one day Jesus will come back whether we are ready or not.  Make preparation today.

So, how are you doing?

Consider Him 8

I am guessing that most of us have heard the old saying, “The squeaky wheel gets the grease.”  There is a lot of truth to that; unless, you are hard of hearing like I am.  Then, it might get it and it might not.

As a parent you know when your child cries if it is just for attention or if there is really something wrong.  Mothers are highly skilled in this area.  Fathers just look for the trail of blood.

There is one cry that has impact for all time and eternity.  Today let’s “Consider Him in His Cry”.  As Jesus was nailed to a Roman cross and dying for sin He never committed He said some things that need to be considered.

Look at Luke 23:34, “Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.”  This is ultimate forgiveness!  There have been a couple times in my life that God has poured out great grace on me and I was able to forgive someone that had wronged me.  I thank God for that.  Consider what Jesus is saying here.  He is confirming that we are sinners and sinners sin.  Because of this we need forgiveness.  Jesus was the only one to provide such forgiveness.  “Consider Him in His Cry” as He said, “Father, forgive them,”.  Maybe it would be a good exercise to replace the word “them” with your name or my name.

So, how are you doing?

Consider Him 7

If you have been alive very long at all you have been betrayed by someone.  Sadly, it might be someone very close to you.  Maybe it was a spouse or former spouse.  Betrayal is hard to get over sometimes.  Let me ask this, “Who are we to think we are above this?”.

Today let’s take some time and “Consider Him in His Contradiction”.  The people loved Jesus.  They flocked to Him for bread.  They especially loved the water turned into wine.  They would have set Him up as King immediately in what we call His Triumphal Entry.(Matthew 21:1-11).  These people were ready for Him to rule over them.

Then something changed.  The people who sought to set Jesus up as King suddenly moved against Him.  When given the opportunity they said in John 19:15, “But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.”

You talk about a contradiction.  These people wanted Jesus to rush in and take over and deliver them from Roman rule.  They did not understand that His kingdom was not of this world.  Thus they became disillusioned and turned on Him.  Jesus endured contradiction.

Today, you and I have to make a choice.  We have to choose if we will have Jesus to rule over us or if we will continue to bow to a pagan king.  The choice is yours to make.

So, how are you doing?

Hebrews 12:3, “For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.”

Consider Him 6

Someone said that your character is what you are when nobody is around watching you.  That is really something to think about personally.  We think we are really getting away with something that we do “in secret”.

Here is the thing.  Even though there might not be anyone else in the room or even the building there is Someone that knows.  So, when we think we are all alone and we are going to indulge in some sin we need to remember that the ever watchful eyes of God are watching.

There is one thing about our LORD Jesus Christ.  He was sinless.  No matter how people then and now want to attack Him there is nothing they can attack.  He was, is and will always be sinless.  He is the Sinless Son of God.

Look at II Corinthians 5:21, “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”  You and I are plagued with sin.  We fight against it all the time.  At least we should fight against sin.  Some will give in to the temptation.  Persons of character strive not to get caught up in sin.

Jesus’ character was spotless.  He could not sin because He is Holy God.  You and I are bent toward sin; but, He could not sin.  Because of this He was the only One who could die on the cross and pay the price for all man’s sin.

We all want to be like someone else from time to time.  Here is an idea.  How about we try to be like Jesus and be a person of real, godly character.

So, how are you doing?

Consider Him 4

As we continue our study on the thought of “Consider Him” I would like for us to “Consider Him in His Care”.  The songwriter penned the words, “Does Jesus Care?”.

How would you answer this question?  My guess is that most of us would filter our response through our circumstances.  If we feel that God has been good to us then we would say, “Yes, He cares!”  If we feel like God has somehow shorted us and we have not gotten something we really wanted then we might fell like that God has not been good.

We need to find ourselves in the attitude of the writer of Psalm 23.  Look at what he says in Psalm 23:1, “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.”  We need to get our eyes back on God and quit looking at other people and think that God loves them more than He loves us because that person has more stuff.

God loves us all the same no matter what  or who we are.  He cares for us all the same.

So, how are you doing?

Consider Him 3

As we are full-blown into the Christmas season I am bringing this series of blog posts.  The reason this thought hit me was because I believe that we have too much commercialism and secularism that is trying to push Jesus Christ right out of Christmas.  Jesus is the reason we celebrate Christmas anyway.

Today I would like to “Consider Him and His Compassion”.  Jesus was full of compassion.  I believe that is what motivated Him to come into this world.  He knew what He would endure by we whom He created.  Yet, He voluntarily went in our place and gave His life for each and every one of us.

Look at Matthew 9:36, “But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.”  Jesus was moved by what He saw.

One man described compassion as another person’s pain in your heart.  Jesus looked out over the city of Jerusalem and lamented, ” (Matthew 23:37; Luke 13:34).  When was the last time you looked at someone or a group of people and was actually moved or motivated to do something for the cause of Christ?  I would venture to say that some of us could truthfully say never.  That is a sad commentary on a person.

We want to be more like Jesus; but, we don’t want to pay the price.  We are going to have to be moved with compassion and get out of our comfort zone and serve the LORD more fervently than we ever have before.

So, how are you doing?

Consider Him 2

Today I want us to “Consider Him in His Coming”.  Jesus came and was born a child.  He could have entered this world in any different form or at any age.  Yet, He chose to be born a child and to experience life as we do only He did not sin.

As you read the account in Scripture it is easy to see this was no ordinary event.  To begin with God used a pagan king to decree in such a way that it would being Joseph and his wife to Bethlehem to be taxed.  During this time Jesus was born.

Then there is the fact of Him being wrapped in “swaddling clothes”.  These were strips of cloth that were wound around the child.  He was wrapped as if He were bring prepared to be put into the grave.  It was a testimony of why Jesus came.  He came to die for the sin of man.  Luke 2:7, “And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.”

The gifts that were brought to Him.  The gold testified of His being King.  Myrrh is a burial spice and told of Him being a Prophet.  Frankinscense was used in the tabernacle and was a testimony to Him being a Priest.

As you go through the Christmas season this year “Consider Him in His Coming”.

So, how are you doing?

Consider Him

Well, today is the first day of December.  It is so hard to believe that this year is nearly over.  The time has escaped by quickly to say the least.

As we enter the Christmas season I would like to begin to try to get our focus in the correct place.  We all think of the family gatherings, Christmas parties, presents and many other things.  I wonder how many of us truly give any consideration at all to Jesus.

I remember many years ago hearing Missionary Steve Jerrett preach a message at the Church we were attending at the time.  His entire message was “Consider Him”.  Over the next few days I want to “Consider Him” in many things.  Look at Hebrews 12:3, “For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.”

As you go through life do you give any consideration to Jesus at all?  I hope you do.

So, how are you doing?
