Grace and Mercy

Joshua 2:1, “And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot’s house, named Rahab, and lodged there.”

Recently I attended a camp meeting at a local Church.  One of my favorite Preachers was there.  The format was to have my friend preach one evening while another family provided the music.  Then the next night my friend would do the music and the other Brother would preach.  It was a great meeting.  I really enjoyed meeting Brother Ron Hoy.  His a big man with a big voice.  He has written some song and I was privileged to receive a copy of their CD’s.

The first song I listened to was “Grace and Mercy”.  It is an awesome song about the two spies coming to Rahab’s house.  This song is so full of truth.  I listen to it all the time and I cannot help shedding tears every time.

Brother Hoy brings out some things in his song that are just wonderful.  I love the picture he paints of salvation in the song.  The two spies are represented by grace and mercy.  If it were not for God’s grace and mercy we would be forever lost.  Then the talks about the scarlet thread (vs. 18).  This causes me to think about the scarlet thread of the blood of Jesus that is all throughout the Word of God.

If it were not for Jesus’ finished work on Calvary we would have no hope.  All because of Jesus we can have mercy and grace extended to us and we can be cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ.

Have you been visited by the grace and mercy of God?  If you have not then let me take the Bible and show you how you can be saved.

So, how are you doing?

All Because Of Another 2

I truly enjoyed writing yesterday’s post.  It was great to stroll down memory lane.  As I was thinking about the topic of “All Because of Another” I remembered a story that was hared at a friend’s memorial service.

My friend has been drinking and was involved in an automobile accident.  He was covered in blood that was not his.  He took his Bible and went to see the Pastor and ended up trusting Jesus Christ as his Saviour.  Praise the LORD!  This man was a dear friend and brother in Christ.

As I began to think about this I just kept thinking about him being covered in blood that was not his.  I am sure you see where I am going.  My mind raced to Jesus’ crucifixion.  As we have recently come through the Resurrection season I could not help but be reminded of some things.

You see, my friend came to the place where he realized what he was doing was not working.  He went a got help.  Far too many people just keep going on through life struggling and fighting against God.  This is futile and will end in eternal judgement.

What you and I need is to be covered in the blood of Jesus and have our sin washed away.  I hope you will do this before it is eternally too late.

So, how are you doing?

The Blood Of Jesus

I have to admit, in our lives autism is a peculiar thing.  There are bad days, no doubt.  There are good days and even great days too.  It is the great days and the good days that help you make it through the bad days.  There are other things that that sustain you too.  God’s Word, presence, people and many others.

With autism comes peculiar (to you and I) behavior.  Our son loves to watch videos.  He also loves to rewind them and rewind them and rewind them.  You get the point.  Yesterday I was watching a video in the living room fighting to keep warm.  The Collingsworth family were on.  They were singing an awesome song titled “The Blood Of Jesus”.  I think Kim Collingsworth wrote it.  To say it is powerful is a great understatement.  When the song concluded here came our son.  Yes, he hit rewind from the edge of the living room..  This scenario played out several times.

I thought to myself, “I wish he would quit.”  Then it dawned on me.  What he was doing is spreading the message of the blood of Jesus.  No matter who had been here it would have been rewind, rewind and rewind.  Sometimes God’s Holy Spirit uses the little things in life to get the message out.  Look at I Peter 1:19, “But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:”.

What can wash away my sin?  Nothing but the blood of Jesus!

So, how are you doing?

All Because Of Another 6

As I was reading I had to go back and read over a passage.  It was Exodus 12:3, “Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:”

As I have been dwelling on the thought “All Because Of Another”, I could not pass this verse over.  I was thinking of this lamb.  It was brought into the house and would have become like a pet.  When I think of a lamb I am immediately drawn to The Lamb of God.

The lamb in our Scripture today would be slain and it’s blood spilled “All Because Of Another”.  The lamb was to be slain and it’s blood was to be sprinkled on the door posts and the lentil.  This is a picture of Jesus coming as The Lamb of God and shedding His blood to pay our debt of sin.  When the people put the blood on the door posts and lentil the death angel would pass over them.  It is the same in reality today.  If we have the blood of Jesus applied to our soul then the death angel will pass over us.  We will all die; but, we who have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus will only pass on to Heaven.  Those who do not have Jesus’ blood applied will pass on to hell.

You can know for sure that the blood of Jesus has been applied if you call up Him for salvation.  If you would like to do this, please contact me and I will help you.

And The Next Day

Just two short days ago was Easter Sunday.  I had the privilege of preaching the sunrise service at our Church.  I have waited for twenty-one (21) years for that to happen and my dream came true.  Glory to God!

As I stood in the pulpit and looked across the gathered visitors and saints alike I watched the stained glass windows and saw the light changing as the sun was coming up.  It was an awesome experience for me all the way around.  I was so humbled.

Now that bridge has been crossed what is next?  It is up to the LORD.  I like the words of John 1:29, ‘The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”  The phrase “taketh away” means beareth.  So, as we have come through the Easter season this is the message.  Jesus came to bear our sin so that we do not have to bear it.  By Jesus taking our sin upon Himself then we do not have to bear our own sin.  If we bear it alone we will spend eternity in a real place called hell.  Please, my dear reader, do not go to hell because you do not have to.  If you would like to know how you can have eternal life just send me a message and I will get right back to you and help you to know.

So, how are you doing?

Passed Over

Yesterday was the first day of the Jewish Passover.  It is a beautiful picture.  God came in judgement upon Egypt and any family that did not follow His guidelines for this event.  Look at Exodus 12:12, “For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.”

If you wanted to be spared of this judgement all you had to do was kill the lamb and sprinkle the blood on the door posts and the lintel.  When the death angel saw the blood you were passed over.

For you and I today, it is the blood of Jesus applied to our lives that causes the death angel to pass over.  Oh, we will all die one day.  Thanks be unto God for delivering us who know Christ as Saviour.  You do not want to be on the receiving end.

Jesus is our Passover Lamb.  He gave His life for me and for you.  His blood is applied and His wrath is satisfied.  Praise the LORD!

Dear friend and reader, do you know that your sins are forgiven and that Heaven is your eternal home?  If not would  you make that decision to trust Jesus as your Saviour before it is too late?  Contact me so I can share this with you.
