God’s House

Genesis 28:22, “And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God’s house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.”

As I was reading our Scripture passage for today I began to think back to the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.  In he few short weeks following the attacks Churches were seeing a rise in attendance.  This is great; but, it was too short lived.  The Church we attended saw one lady come as a result if my mind serves me correctly.

I remember watching a documentary about that day. As I sat and watched they began to tell about a void in “the pile”.  In this void there wasd found seven crosses.  They were steel beams from the towers  whose joints were still intact and formed a cross.  The people who found it named it “God’s House”. It was amazing to say the least.  I would have loved to have been able to see it in person.  There was such awe and reverence for the place.  They told of timesof prayer held there in “God’s House”.

Why is it that big, tough, iron workers could reverence such a place; but, people who are supposed to be God’s children don’t darken the door of a local Church?   We could spend all day on this subject and have opinions as the sand of the sea.

What about you, friend?  On Sunday or today being Wednesday, will you be found going to Church to worship Christ?  If your system of beliefs will not get you to Church then how do you know it will get you to Heaven?

So, how are you doing?

Pray:  Dear God, I thank You for a place to go and worship You.  Thank You for men who preach Truth from God’s Word.  Give us a ceasless desire to worship and serve You.  In Jesus’ name I pray.  Amen.

  1. Great message Dave. The biggest gods in America are pleasure and comfort. People want to call upon God only when they are in danger of losing those idols. Keep up the proclamation of Christ.
