Love Is 3

We have looked at the truth that love is a command and we have seen that love is a choice.  Today we will look at love is a commitment.  We live in a day when everything is disposable.  I hate it!  We have digressed to the place that even people are disposable.  I mean you have those pushing for the “right” take your own life.  There are people that murderously slaughter innocent children before they even have the opportunity to break forth from the womb that carries them.  This ought not to be!

Jesus tells us of a man in the book of Luke that went on a journey.  Here is the thing.  This man took his journey on a road named “The Way of Blood”.  This man was journeying from Jerusalem, down to Jericho.  The word “down” should give you a clue.  While traveling this road the man met some unsavory men who beat him and robbed him.  As if that is not bad enough he is left for dead.

The real tragedy is not his physical condition.  The real tragedy is how he is treated by those who pass by him.  A priest passes by.  What!  Yes, a priest.  A man who should have been moved to stop and help; but, he does not.  Next a Levite comes by.an offers no help.  Both of these so-called religious people not only walked on by this man; but, they did so on the other side of the road.  Then comes the Samaritan.  The Samaritans were half-breeds.  They were only half Jews.  The sad thing is that this is the man that stopped and not only offered help; but, took the man to a place where he could get further help.  Then he paid for his help and gave the promise that he would pay the rest of the bill upon his arrival back.  Look at Luke 10:34, “And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.”

What kind of commitment do you have to the LORD?  Do you have any commitment at all to the LORD?  If not you need to trust Him as your Saviour and begin there.

So, how are you doing?
